Catherine Bird completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training at Whole Life Yoga with Tracy Weber in the viniyoga lineage in December 2018.

In 2011 Catherine was introduced to viniyoga after practicing other forms for 8 years. The focus on the breath and the therapeutic nature of the lineage were such a gift to her at that time, after living with chronic pain for a year and finding herself in the middle of various transitions in her personal and professional life. Through the practice of viniyoga, she was connected to gentle postures that had a profound influence when practiced consistently over time.

Catherine now integrates viniyoga into her dance classes to compensate and compliment the demands on a dancer’s body. She also teaches private group and individual classes throughout the Tacoma area. For her, yoga is less about achieving perfect form in various postures and more about the impacts that these postures have on the practitioner. She strives to make her sessions inclusive and adaptable in order to meet the needs of each student. Just as in her dance classes, all bodies, ages, and genders are invited to practice with her.
